Fees and Insurance
Melissa is an out of network insurance provider. She does courtesy billing. This means, you will pay the session fee up front and then she will submit the claim to your insurance company as an out of network provider. The insurance company will reimburse you.
Why courtesy billing and not in network coverage?
After years of contracts with insurance companies, Melissa grew frustrated and tired with the limitations that insurance place on care. The decisions are not driven by what is best for a client and put the insurance company first. Courtesy billing seems like the best option for clients and Melissa. You do not have to navigate insurance billing and Melissa is free to choose the best treatment plan for you.
Melissa is not currently able to accept any medicare or medicaid plans.
Understanding standing insurance coverage can be confusing. Sometimes behavioral health coverage is covered by a different company than medical insurance. To verify your out of network coverage including copays and deductibles, call the behavioral health phone number on the back of your insurance card. Please inquire specific out coverage for teletherapy, as this is my only formant currently.
Melissa is also able to accept out of pocket payments if you do not have behavioral health insurance, do not want to use your insurance, or your coverage is out of network. All fees, including insurance copays are due at the time of your appointment. Credit cards, FSA/HSA are accepted.
Melissa offers a limited number of reduced fee spots for people in low or middle income countries or do not have out of network insurance coverage. Contact Melissa to inquire if there are currently any open reduced fee spots available or for additional information about insurance or fees.
